Road closed after crash as two confirmed dead in Oldham

OLDHAM COUNTY, Texas (KFDA) – DPS officials have confirmed that two are dead after a crash in Oldham County on Wednesday, August 14.

According to a press release, the crash occurred on I-40, eight miles west of Adrian, around 2:20 p.m.

The crash report states that a 2023 Volvo semi-truck towing a trailer was traveling westbound on I-40. A 2022 Chrysler Pacifica was traveling eastbound.

For an unknown reason, the semi failed to stay in their lane and drove across the inside lane, through the center median, and entered the eastbound lanes of traffic.

The Chrysler’s driver struck the rear axle of the trailer after failing to evade the collision.

Candice Davis, a 51-year-old Mustang, Oklahoma resident who was operating the Chrysler, was taken to a nearby hospital suffering from severe injuries.

Mckenna Davis, a passenger in the Chrysler who was 23 years old and from Mustang, Oklahoma, was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.

Mark Hedden, a passenger who was 70 years old and from Mustang, Oklahoma, was also sent to a nearby hospital due to severe injuries.
Emelita Hedden, 70, of Mustang, Oklahoma, and Violette “Elvin” Heggen, 72, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, were the two adult occupants of the Chrysler who were declared dead at the site.

The Volvo truck’s driver and passenger escaped unharmed.

Investigations into this crash are still ongoing.
