The A53 is closed in both directions following a crash. There is heavy traffic following the collision between Leek and Buxton.
Police warn the road is expected to be closed “for some time” as they advised drivers to avoid the area and find alternative routes. The crash occurred between Grin Low Road and the Dalehead turn off.
Local police in Buxton warned drivers of the closure on social media. In a statement, officers said: “The A53 is currently closed just outside Buxton heading towards Leek due to a collision.
“The road is expected to be closed for some time so motorists are advised to avoid the area and find an alternative route.”
Traffic monitoring service Inrix reports: “A53 in both directions closed, heavy traffic due to accident from Grinlow Road to the Dalehead turn off.”
