Police close road:Two arrested after ‘tragic’ crash in Stockport

At 430 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, August 17, police were contacted in response to reports of a collision outside The Church Inn on Ravenoak Road. Witnesses report that shortly after, an air ambulance landed close by, though it’s unclear if anyone was taken in the helicopter.

After the ambulances departed, eight police cars stayed on the scene, making a total of almost ten emergency service vehicles present. There are traffic lines in the vicinity due to the installation of a cordon at the intersection of Church Road, Ravenoak Road, and Ack Lane West.
At present, Ravenoak Road, which links Cheadle Hulme and Bramhall, is closed, and traffic is being rerouted onto nearby streets. Operator Stagecoach has released an update stating that the collision is causing the 313 and 42B bus routes to be diverted.

Stagecoach stated in an X post: “Services only along Route 313, bound for Stockport. Our 313 service will deviate due to an RTC near the Church Inn in Cheadle Hulme. It will turn right onto Ack Lane West to Bramhall Village, then left onto Bramhall Ln Sth to Garners Ln to Adswood Rd. The regular route will then be resumed.”

The operator wrote in a different post: “Route 42B. Services are being diverted both ways via Schools Hill, the A34 Bypass, and Stanley Road due to an RTC at the Church Inn Cheadle Hulme. The following roads won’t be provided service: Gilbent Road, Church Road, Ravenoak Road, Station Road, and Albert Road. We regret if this interferes with your travel plans.”
