Man killed in multi-vehicle tunnel crash

Following an incident involving multiple vehicles near the Dartford Crossing, a woman was admitted to the hospital with severe injuries. At roughly 4:05 p.m., a van and a truck collided on the A282 in Dartford, resulting in the call for emergency services.

The scene was attended by patrols, highway police, South East Coast Ambulance Service, and Kent Fire and Rescue Service. A lady was flown by air ambulance to a hospital in London to receive medical attention.
At one point, the crash caused traffic to back up for around 11 kilometres. Following the crash, drivers experienced 120-minute delays and standstill traffic.

According to Kent Police, the carriageway was blocked while emergency personnel handled the situations and plans were made to retrieve the cars. Around 21:40, all limitations were removed, and by 22:12, all delays had been resolved.

“Kent Police was called at approximately 4.05pm on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 to a collision involving a van and a lorry on the A282 in Dartford,” a spokesman for the force said. The woman was flown by air ambulance to a hospital in London for treatment after patrols, highway police, the Kent Fire and Rescue Service, and the South East Coast Ambulance Service responded to the site.

“The carriageway was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident and arrangements were made to recover the vehicles.”
