Road closed as rescue team struggle to save victims in ghastly crash in Cambridge

Following a collision on the A1 motorway in Cambridgeshire on Sunday, August 225, a teenage boy is in critical condition. The event took place at approximately 4:30 p.m.

When the 16-year-old’s black Peugeot 407 collided with a white Ford Transit 350 Leader minibus, he was riding in the front seat. This occurred close to the southbound carriageway’s junction 14 at Alconbury Hill, closing the route for a number of hours.

The teen boy was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital and is still in critical condition, while the 49-year-old driver of the Peugeot sustained minor injuries. Seven people who were in the minibus received minor medical attention.

The minibus driver, a 26-year-old South Yorkshire resident, was taken into custody on suspicion of reckless driving resulting in serious injury. He is free on bond through November.

“Anyone who has dashcam footage of the collision, or either vehicle in the moments leading up to it, to contact us,” stated Sergeant Mark Atkins of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit. I would also like to encourage those who stopped to offer assistance to get in contact with us, as many have stopped but have not yet provided statements.”

It is recommended that anyone with information contact the police through the webchat feature or the reporting forms, referencing incident 359 of August 24. Those without access to the internet should dial 101.
