Emergency services were dispatched to Sutton Road, Sutton, which is located about 20 kilometres northeast of Canberra, at 11:45 p.m., in response to reports of a car striking a tree.
Both the driver, a guy in his 40s, and the passenger, a man from Canberra, age 42, passed away at the site.
Officers from the Monaro Police District are looking into what caused the crash. We’ll write out a report for the coroner.
