After being struck by a car on a motorway, one person has passed away.
They were struck near junction 42 of the M6 in Cumbria shortly after 20:00 BST
.
Police shut the northbound and southbound carriageways between junctions 41 and 43 for several hours while a search and examination of the scene was carried out.
Before Sunday’s road reopening, National Highways traffic officers assisted on the scene and set up detours.
