Residents reported seeing a large police presence in the area around Prescot railway station on Wednesday evening from around shortly after 6pm.
When asked about this, a police spokeswoman said there had been a collision involving a Ford Kuga, a Ford Puma and a Ford Focus in the area of Bridge Road and Station Road.
A woman was taken to hospital after the crash, she added.
“We were contacted at 6.05pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving three vehicles – a Ford Kuga, a Ford Puma, and a Ford Focus on Bridge Road/Station Road,” a spokesman for Merseyside Police stated.
“A woman was taken to hospital.”
The spokesperson stated that it was thought that no significant injuries had been sustained.
