Man dies after ghastly car crash on Co Antrim road

Robert Lee, 49, is the man who was identified by police as the victim of a crash in Ballymena.
The man, who was from the Ballymoney area, died at the scene of the crash, according to police.

The incident occurred on Thursday night just before 11:20 p.m. on Frosses Road.

“Officers attended a report of a collision involving a Scania lorry and a silver Honda Civic, along with colleagues from partner emergency services,” stated PSNI Roads Inspector Cherith Adair of the Collision Investigation Unit.

“The car’s driver, Robert Lee, 49, a resident of the Ballymoney area, tragically died at the scene.

The Collision Investigation Unit’s officers are investigating the collision’s circumstances and are looking for witnesses or anyone who may have taken dashcam or other type of footage that could help them with their investigation.

“Please dial 101 and mention 19/09/24 reference number 1888.”

Following a two-vehicle collision in Markethill earlier this week, an 18-year-old was reported to have passed away in the hospital today.

Meanwhile, a 70-year-old man is accused of causing death by dangerous driving after a motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run in Fermanagh yesterday afternoon.
