A critical look into Lewis Hamilton’s recent Evolution

Lewis Hamilton is a seven-time winner of the Formula One World Drivers’ Championship, so his amazing race car driving may be his most well-known attribute, but fashion enthusiasts are aware that Hamilton also has a flair for dramatic red carpet looks.

He has skilfully navigated occasions like the Met Gala and British Fashion Awards over the years, selecting unique looks that deviate from the norm. Lewis’ selection as one of the co-hosts of the 2025 Met Gala makes sense, as was revealed earlier this morning.

Vogue is looking back at some of Hamilton’s most iconic red carpet moments over the years in observance of the news.

In the 2010s, Hamilton rose to prominence on the international scene. He was frequently spotted donning the graphic, designer streetwear and slim-fit suits of the time, such as printed Prada pieces and satin Louis Vuitton bomber jackets. One more of his go-to pieces from his wardrobe? elegant racing jackets made of leather, a tribute to his own exceptional driving abilities. But in recent years, Hamilton has elevated his style game with avant-garde, eye-catching designs, solidifying his status as a true fashion icon.

With the help of stylist Eric Mcneal, Hamilton has updated traditional suits with contemporary designs. The celebrity driver honoured poet Alex Wharton and Black gardener John Ystumllym of the 18th century with a custom Burberry ensemble that included branch-like necklaces and embroidery.

Hamilton wore a glamorous coat with pinstriped design and crystal strands at the GQ Global Creativity Awards this year. There’s always going to be something unexpected when he attends a function, and that’s what makes a true red carpet star.

Here are a few more of Hamilton’s most memorable outfits.
