Wild Jahmyr Gibbs, Myles Garrett Lions trade proposal pitched Confirm

In a wild trade proposal, the Lions would send edge rusher Myles Garrett along with many draft picks and running back Jahmyr Gibbs.

At the moment, the Detroit Lions are playing like the NFL’s top team. Detroit is 6-1 going into a pivotal game against the Packers in Week 9. But it’s no secret that the Lions are trying to bolster their edge rusher position. It is a Super Bowl contender’s greatest weakness, and the NFL media hasn’t held back when speculating about potential acquisitions. On Friday, a former NFL general manager made a particularly outrageous trade request.

On Friday’s episode of Get Up, former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum presented a wild trade suggestion between the Lions and Browns.

Myles Garrett, a defensive end with the Browns, would be sent to the Lions in exchange for a sizable sum in this proposed trade. Included in that package are:

Three 2024–2026 first-round selections

One selection in the second round

Jahmyr Gibbs, RB

Even on its face, this trade plan is absurd. Above all, the Lions have stated on numerous occasions that they will not be desperate to find a replacement for Aidan Hutchinson. This combination of trades is the epitome of desperation.

Additionally, the Lions do not receive a solid deal in exchange. Before the playoffs, Myles Garrett, a top edge rusher, will turn 29. It is reasonable to wonder how many more years of top-tier performance he has left in him. That is a crucial query to enquire when giving away a budding superstar like Jahmyr Gibbs together with several first-round selections.

This kind of trade package would be fantastic for the Browns, but it is completely nonsensical for the Lions.
