Emma Raducanu was seen driving a brand-new Porsche a few days after the luxury automaker returned another £100,000 model that it had given her as a freebie.
It was believed earlier this month that the British tennis player, who hasn’t won a major slam since winning the US Open in 2021 due to a string of injuries, had lost her contract with the sports car company.
The relationship was ‘heading for the scrapyard’ when Emma’s employer, Porsche, which pays her as an ambassador, disclosed that it ‘took back’ a 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet supercar that she had borrowed.
When the 21-year-old was spotted forgoing her typical motorbike and instead taking a bus on the weekend, speculation increased last week.
However, Emma has already dispelled such speculations after being spotted driving a Porsche again on Monday, this time a less expensive Cayenne model.
Raducanu’s continued status as a brand ambassador was also confirmed by Porsche in a public statement.
“Emma Raducanu is a global brand ambassador for Porsche, and since our successful partnership began in 2022, there have been no changes,” a company representative told The Mirror.
“We are really pleased with our collaboration.”
Because one of her earliest tennis coaches had a Porsche sports vehicle, Emma, who is presently injured, developed a deep affection for the brand as a child.
She reportedly drove a £5,000 Dacia Sandero before to winning the US Open.
“I would always see his Porsche when I arrived at practice in the morning,” she remarked. “I would say, ‘Wow!’ and dream of sitting in my own one day.”
One of her coworkers said, “Emma no longer has a Porsche.” “They retracted it.” At her house, it used to be the centre of attention.
She is no longer in possession of one of Porsche’s cars, a spokesperson said. “We do occasionally lend Emma a car, but it’s very much on an as-needed basis,” he stated.
Porsche is renowned for quickly removing its cars from celebrity ambassadors if it does not believe that it is getting value for money, according to a source in the sponsorship industry.
Raducanu undoubtedly worked hard for the business, as seen by her appearance in promotional videos, one of which included her driving a 911 GT3 at Brands Hatch in Kent.
and another at Silverstone in Northamptonshire, where she completed circuits in a 911 Carrera S with Formula 1 veteran Mark Webber.
Raducanu, whose parents are in the finance industry, earned extremely expensive contracts with brands like Dior, Evian, HSBC, and Vodafone after being the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam title at the 2021 US Open.
Last year, her business, Harbour 6 Ltd, made £9.6 million.
Representatives for Raducanu and Porsche have been contacted by MailOnline for comment.
