Newcastle United man reunites with South Shields

With 16 points from 14 games, South Shields are presently ranked 17th in the Vanarama National League North standings. Last season, the Mariners, led by former Sunderland and Newcastle United coach Elliot Dickman, ended only one point outside of the playoff spots.

Shields announced the signing of the former Magpies player in an attempt to raise their current ranks. Despite being included in a couple matchday squads by Eddie Howe last season, De Bolle did not make a single competitive appearance for the first team and was released by the club early this summer.

In addition to providing the Mariners’ manager with a familiar face in midfield to choose from, the 22-year-old will rejoin with Dickman, his former manager at Newcastle United. During the 2022–2023 season, De Bolle was on loan at Hamilton. However, he missed a significant portion of his first few weeks and months there due to concussions, although he finally made 26 appearances for the Scottish team.

De Bolle earned eight Premier League 2 appearances for the Under-21 team last season after returning to the northeast. He even played in Newcastle’s final season tour in Australia, where he faced Tottenham Hotspur and the A-League All Stars. When the Mariners travel to the north-west this afternoon, De Bolle’s first assignment might be to assist his new team in defeating old rivals Warrington Town.
