US takeover Sheff Utd worth over £100m confirm

The EFL must approve the deal, but after negotiations with owner Prince Abdullah, Steve Rosen is expected to take over.

In a deal valued at over £100 million, Prince Abdullah, the owner of Sheffield United, has agreed to terms to sell the team to a US consortium headed by Steve Rosen.

The EFL still needs to approve the last few terms of the contract, but given the progress made in recent weeks, there is confidence that Rosen will take over the team.

Rosen is also expected to purchase the hotel next to Bramall Lane as part of the rumoured £105 million deal. The US industrialist has not yet finalised his travel plans, but he may try to attend this weekend’s Steel City derby.

Over the past few seasons, Sheffield United has been the target of takeover negotiations with various parties; these negotiations began when the team was in the Premier League. Dozy Mmobuosi, a Nigerian businessman, had previously held discussions with Prince Abdullah, but a takeover never happened.

Under Chris Wilder, they are now in the Championship’s automatic promotion spots. He claims that the takeover rumours haven’t deterred him from his goal of returning the team to the top division.

Wilder recently declared, “I have no involvement whatsoever in the takeover.” “I’m focused on getting the team ready for the upcoming game, so I’m not involved in it. That’s not for me; it’s for the owner or the top executive. I’m paying attention to the group. It has been going on for a while, and I haven’t been impacted by it yet. Because if I had been impacted, we wouldn’t have had the outcomes that we have.

The new group would increase the number of English football clubs owned by Americans if they were successful in taking over the team.

While Fenway Sports Group owns Liverpool and the Glazer family sold some of Manchester United to Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Chelsea was the most recent Premier League team to be acquired by American owners. Last season, American investors owned or had a stake in half of the Premier League’s clubs.

Last year, Leeds United, which advanced to the Championship play-off final before losing to Southampton, was acquired by American investment group 49ers Enterprises.
