The county of Wayne (WWJ) Updates on a “police investigation” were given by authorities after they claimed that two individuals, a witness and a shooter, were shot following a collision in Garden City on Tuesday morning.

The most recent information was released by Michigan State Police shortly after noon on December 26th, claiming that a car wreck at 7:30 a.m. had resulted in the death of a suspect, the alleged shooting of a witness by the suspect, and the injuries of a motorist.

A 37-year-old Hamtramck man was involved in an accident on Ford Road close to Venoy, which is close to the Westland border, according to MSP. According to authorities, he shot a witness who was hurrying to the scene to assist when he got out of his car.

 

According to MSP, the shooter also fired at a number of other nearby cars.

 

Officers from Garden City were the first to arrive at the scene after receiving reports of gunfire scene. When they arrived, one cop opened fire on the shooter, killing him as they engaged the suspect.

MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw told WWJ’s Tony Ortiz that the witness who was shot by the suspect was taken to a nearby hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.

A second individual who was hurt in the first collision is likewise in stable condition at the hospital.

 

In light of an ongoing police investigation, Garden City residents received an alert shortly before 8:30 a.m. advising them to avoid the intersection of Ford and Venoy, stating that “the intersection is closed in all directions and will require a diversion of traffic for the next few hours.”

Unverified accounts at the time claimed that a road rage incident between drivers escalated, resulting in shooting and a wreck close to the crossroads. According to reports, three persons were shot during the incident, and one of them was hit in the head.

One victim was injured in the collision, however police later confirmed that only two persons were shot: the suspect who was shot and killed by police and the witness who was reportedly shot by the suspect.

Police officers from Garden City and troopers are currently on the site. According to state police, they are investigating if road rage was a contributing factor in the incident.
