Brisbane Broncos coach Michael Maguire makes bombshell call on Ezra Mam’s future after he was charged

Michael Maguire, the coach of the Brisbane Broncos, has promised that the team will not fire problematic star Ezra Mam after he was charged with drug driving and checked himself into a rehab facility.

After Queensland police claimed that the five-eighth tested positive for a banned substance in two tests obtained following his head-on incident with an Uber last month, there have been rumours that the four-million dollar, five-year contract he signed in February would be shattered.

‘No, he hasn’t,’ Maguire responded when asked if the 21-year-old had played his final game for the team on Friday.

Because we must perceive things as they are, we must be cautious while making decisions.

“Ezra is working on himself and making sure he is going through his process, but it’s a big incident and it’s not taken lightly.”

“All of the people who were involved in that accident will need to be contacted.”

Mam might face a significant NRL ban after police accused him of drug driving on Wednesday after he allegedly tested positive for an illicit substance after colliding with another car on October 18.

The charge was filed on Wednesday, and the 21-year-old has been scheduled to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 16.

In addition, Mam received a traffic infraction notice for failing to keep control of his Ford Ranger during a head-on collision with an Uber in Brisbane.

Following the event, authorities reportedly administered a roadside drug test to the celebrity five-eighth, who reportedly gave a positive result.

To validate the initial findings, he underwent additional tests in the hospital. The second samples allegedly came back positive on Tuesday.

Mam has been charged with one count of driving a motor vehicle without a driving license and one count of driving while the relevant substance was in her blood.

According to reports, he was moving when the collision happened in the Bardon neighbourhood of inner-north Brisbane.

On Thursday, Mam spoke out about the charges.

“I recognise the gravity of the situation,” he said to News Corp.

I am aware of how critical it is that I accept accountability for my actions.

“I will cooperate with the upcoming legal process.”

“I am also aware of my obligations as a community role model, and I am ready to put in a lot of effort to meet those standards moving forward.”

A mother and daughter were among the occupants of the Uber that struck Mam’s Ford Ranger in the collision.

According to the mother, she and her daughter, who is four years old, were admitted to the hospital following the incident, with the kid sustaining a fractured hip.

The NRL Integrity Unit is looking into the incident, Mam.

Earlier this month, Reece Walsh, Mam’s teammate and close friend, begged the club not to fire the playmaker.

Walsh remarked, “I feel bad for Ezra; he’s a great guy for a start.”

Everyone in this club is sympathetic to him because he is now going through a difficult period.

They are aware of Ezra’s character and his compassion. We’ve got his back, and it’s critical that we stand by and help him.

“He will take the necessary steps to return in a proper manner.”

This is the second time this year that Mam has been involved in an off-field incident, with the NRL looking into the confrontation with emerging sensation and fullback Reece Walsh fans in Bali while on holiday.
