Salford Red Devils of the Betfred Super League and the Barrow Raiders have decided to register under the same name for the 2025 season.
According to the agreement, any Salford player who is dual-registered with Barrow will be able to train and play for both teams.
Andy Gaffney, the rugby director for the Raiders, has praised the collaboration.
“We are thrilled to have the chance to connect with Salford ahead of the new season,” he said on the club’s official website.
In addition to being one of my closest friends in the game, Paul Rowley is someone Paul Crarey and I much respect on a personal and professional level.
“The three of us have a great deal of trust in one another, and I have no doubt that the players who join our team will be inspired to help us succeed in 2025.”
“On behalf of everyone at Salford, we are thrilled to be reunited with our friends at Barrow,” stated Paul Rowley, head coach of the Salford Red Devils.
“We have a very trusting relationship, and we want our players to share the same family values that both clubs share.”
A number of Salford’s players have made loan moves to the Northern Competitions Stadium in recent years, demonstrating the close working relationship between Barrow and the Red Devils.
One such player was Jamie Pye, who signed his first professional deal with the Red Devils after having a successful time in Cumbria near the conclusion of the previous season.
Some of the Raiders’ first team, fringe, and transition players will have the chance to earn more valuable and consistent first team minutes thanks to the link between the Raiders and Red Devils.
The player can only participate in one fixture in any given week’s planned round of fixtures and would not be qualified to play for both Barrow and Salford on the same weekend.
