In Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw with Accrington Stanley, Johnnie Jackson thought AFC Wimbledon was denied a simple penalty.
When Accrington goalkeeper Billy Crellin dropped the ball from a cross in the 81st minute, striker Matty Stevens beat him to the ball, putting the South Londoners behind 2-0.
However, after Crellin stopped Stevens from getting a shot off inside the box, referee Ben Atkinson did not blow for a clear penalty.
Following the incident, Jackson received a warning.
The Dons earned a point in stoppage time of the second half thanks to late goals from Alistair Smith and James Tilley.
“After the keeper drops the ball, my player blocks the path of the ball and the keeper, who then throws him over.”
It appeared to be a very simple one to administer. Please explain the reason behind this to me.
“If he has an opportunity to score, Matty won’t go down there. That one is beyond my comprehension.
We would have had an opportunity to influence the game sooner. All I can say is that it was a poor choice.
