After being discovered in a housing estate in Glasgow’s city centre with severe injuries, a woman passed away, and a murder investigation is now underway.
Glasgow resident Sandie Butler died on Tuesday, October 29, after being discovered gravely hurt in the Townhead neighbourhood of the city near St. Mungo Avenue.
Officers told us they were notified of a disturbance in the vicinity just before 1pm, as we reported.
Emergency personnel rushed to the scene, including police and ambulances. The 40-year-old was seriously injured when they arrived.
But a short while after, Sandie was unfortunately declared dead.
Detectives now said they are examining her death as murder after a post-mortem examination on Wednesday, October 30.
Anyone with information on the event is being urged to come forward by the officers. Additionally, police have established an internet platform called Operation PARETO where people can submit information.
A massive cordon was erected in the area after the incident was reported on Tuesday afternoon.
A number of apartment blocks close to Dobbies Lane Place and St Mungo Avenue were sealed off by police.
On Wednesday, October 30, the area was still blocked off while police looked into Sandie’s death.
In pictures captured by the Glasgow Times on Wednesday, cops can be seen standing guard around the cordon.
Meanwhile, due to the alleged disturbance, Glasgow City Council revealed two roads in the area have been closed while cops carry out their enquiries into the incident.

St James Road has been shut from Stirling Road to St Mungo Avenue, while St Mungo Avenue has been closed from Grafton Place to Taylor Place.
The local authority has urged drivers to ‘avoid the area’ and seek an alternative route while the cordon remains in place.
Announcing the road closures, the council said they will release further information when available

“There remains an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything around the time of this incident to please contact police.
“In addition, members of the public are asked to check their private CCTV or dash-cam footage as this may be significant in assisting us with our enquiries.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland added: “Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting incident number 1661 of October 29, 2024.
“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
“Detectives have also set up a website that gives members of the public access to a form to send information anonymously directly to the Major Investigation Team.
We reported on Tuesday that a number of ambulances were seen at the scene prior to the large cordon being set up.
Yesterday, police were also seen on duty at the scene, which includes the Dobbies Loan Place high-rise apartments nearby, the St. Mungo Avenue playground, and the apartments on St. Mungo Avenue.
Additionally, a sizable area of grass close to the Townhead stores had been blocked off.
The Scottish Ambulance Service also responded to the event, according to a representative.
“We dispatched several resources to the scene after receiving a call at 12:55 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29 to attend an incident on St. Mungo Avenue in Glasgow,” they stated.
