Sheffield United midfielder Sydie Peck has praised his team and the travelling fans following the club’s 2-2 away draw at Coventry City.
He expressed his admiration for X in a message to everyone who travelled from Sheffield for Saturday’s early kickoff.
Despite beginning the season with -2 points, United was the favoured going into this match and was still in the running for promotion.
Tyrese Campbell had the easy chore of putting the ball into the net after Jesurun Rak-Sakyi’s low cross, and the visitors took the lead at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
However, Coventry tied the score in the 22nd minute when Norman Bassette gave his team their first senior goal.
Twelve minutes later, Rak-Sakyi gave the visitors the lead again, but just before halftime, Anel Ahmedhodzic gave the Sky Blues a lifeline as he reacted angrily to a Bassette remark and was sent off with a straight red card.
Bobby Thomas gave the home team an equaliser in the 80th minute, although it took until then for them to find one. Despite the difficult game, the home team was able to salvage an important point thanks to his performance.
Since league leaders Sunderland also lost on Saturday, the Blades will view this match as a squandered chance.
They might have won this match with 11 players, but Ahmedhodzic’s outburst was always going to make it harder for United to keep all three points.
Even though they had a man advantage for half of the game, the Sky Blues will likely view this as a better point because every point is crucial as they try to stay above the drop zone and move up the Championship table.
