Dundee want to extend Burnley confirm

Dundee wishes to prolong Burnley’s loan of Seun Adewumi through the end of the current campaign.

Since coming at Dens Park on the summer deadline, the Austria U/21 international has made an impression.

In the second half of the season, manager Tony Docherty hopes to have the chance to further hone the 19-year-old’s skills as a member of his team.

Adewumi scored a beautiful goal against Kilmarnock in October and has made seven appearances so far, three of which have been starts.

But the existing agreement with Burnley, Dundee’s “strategic partner,” is only valid through January.

Docherty also believes that Adewumi will stay north of the border because of their tight connection.

According to the Dark Blues manager, “both clubs have a say in what happens in January.”

There is a deal there. However, he is quite happy with Seun and has done a great job.

“Getting acclimated to the personalities, the kind of guy he is, and the things he reacts to takes some time.

However, I’m quite happy. He’s in a group there, but he’s really demonstrated that he’s a great football player.

“In my opinion, we have incredibly gifted players in the forward sections of the field. He is among them.

“I’m quite happy with his development and hope it continues.”

Docherty added: “Development and improvement takes time.

“So if it was cut short, then…

However, our friendship with Burnley and our relationship with Seun, who is a bright young man, truly mesh nicely with the group.

Hopefully, he will recognise that he has grown and made progress.

“And if we can gain from Dundee’s performances on the pitch, it’s a win-win situation for both of us.”
