Carlos Tuimavave, a recent addition to Featherstone Rovers, has disclosed that he declined Super League interest in joining James Ford’s team after leaving Hull FC.
The 32-year-old joined Featherstone in the Championship after playing 182 games for the Black and Whites.
However, Tuimavave actually rejected Super League interest in favour of Rovers by doing this.
“To be honest, I spoke to a couple of clubs, probably clubs that were a bit too far away from Hull,” Tuimavave said on BBC Radio Humberside.
My family has made Hull their home, and I have lived here for nine years. I didn’t want to have to relocate and disturb them. I only decided to travel to Featherstone because of my family.
Additionally, Tuimavave has disclosed that he considered retirement prior to Rovers acquiring him.
At one point, I had considered retirement. When I returned, I was playing well enough, which is perhaps what persuaded me to play again the next year even though I wasn’t sure I would.
“Featherstone Rovers in the Championship have offered me a two-year contract. I met with my agent after they made me an offer of a contract, about a month ago. After weighing our options, Featherstone was the greatest choice for my family and me.
