After AFC Wimbledon’s sad loss to National League team Dagenham & Redbridge in the FA Cup’s second round over the weekend, Isaac Ogundere stated that all eyes are on the team to get promoted.
up the left side of Dons manager Johnnie Jackson’s back three, the defender received a rare start at Plough Lane and put up a solid performance even if the Dons lost in the end.
Before Wimbledon saw two nearly identical chances blocked at the back post, Junior Morias gave the visitors the lead in the 35th minute. Josh Rees of the Daggers found a late victory in the 79th minute, but Matty Stevens’ desperate finish just before halftime would not be enough to start a recovery.
We didnt take our chances and we conceded two sloppy goals,” said Ogundere. “When we’re conceding goals like that it’s hard to come back, but we have to take our chances in the first place.
“That goes for all of the team, Owen [Goodman] is the first line of attack and the attackers are the first line of our defence. You can’t just pin it on the strikers or the wing-backs, it’s got to come from all of us.”
Ogundere has been one of Jackson’s go-to options off the bench this season, but was handed a start yesterday, being deployed as a mobile left-centre-back who got the team moving from back to front quickly.
He said: “I love that I’m allowed to go forward, especially playing as a centre-back. I love to go forward and join in with the attack and it just makes everyone’s life a bit easier when we’re attacking with more numbers.
I had a great day out there, and I’ve been improving a lot lately. Being back in front of our home crowd has been enjoyable, and I hope to play more.
Ogundere stated that the club needed to move past the disappointing outcome and keep their entire attention on battling their way up the League Two standings.
“The dressing room atmosphere is good,” he remarked. “We are in the league’s play-off spots. Although a strong FA Cup run would be excellent, our primary objective is to advance this season and secure a play-off spot. The season’s primary goal is for us to grow higher as well.

We approach these league games with both hands in an attempt to score as many points as we can.
