Championship team Barrow Raiders have announced that they have persuaded captain Jarrad Stack to stay with the team through 2025. However, they claim that in order to close the deal, they would need £6,000 from donations from supporters to cover a budget shortfall.
Over the past 15 years, the Australian has become something of a Cumbrian rugby league icon. He joined the Raiders in 2017 and has distinguished himself in his time at Workington and Barrow.
Although he announced at the end of the previous season that he would be leaving the professional game, it now looks as though he will make one final appearance in 2025.
The Raiders announced on social media that they had reached an agreement with Stack over a new contract; however, they are now unable to formally approve a deal due to a budget imbalance.
They have requested fans to sign up for their 1875 Club, claiming that by doing so, they will be able to raise the £6,000 required to sign Stack. Each member will pay £10 a month.
“We have successfully persuaded our club captain, Jarrad Stack, to have an additional year,” the club posted on Facebook. Since there have been no declines in performance with age and we are certain that we are receiving a fully devoted athlete, we are understandably thrilled.
However, we need to find an additional £6,000 to finish the agreement because of a budget shortage. We could meet our goal if 50 more supporters agreed to pay £10 a month for a year in our 1875 club. Are you able to assist the skipper in crossing the line?
In an effort to create a stronger team, Barrow also disclosed that negotiations to sign three Super League players on season-long loans are at “an advanced stage.”competitive squad for the 2025 Championship season.
