The Barrow Raiders have requested donations from their supporters in order to keep captain Jarrad Stack for the 2025 Championship campaign.
The club has stated that it is the result of a budget deficit.
According to a statement issued by the Raiders, £6,000 is required to finalise Stack’s new contract. Supporters are being encouraged to donate £10, £20, £50, or £100.
After making more than 100 appearances for the Raiders, Stack, who originally came to the UK to play for Workington Town, decided to retire at the end of the previous campaign.
But at a price, the Cumbrian team was able to persuade the 36-year-old to play one more season.
“We need your help and support by joining our 1875 club or playing our monthly raffle for a very big reason,” the Barrow statement says.
“We want to start by giving you an update on our hiring process.
“At the moment, we have 21 players announced for the 2025 season with one more of our current players added shortly; it’s just in the hands of our media team.
Additionally, we still offer internal promotion routes, and four of our current and former Furness Raiders players are training with the team and will have opportunities during friendly.
Additionally, agreements to bring in three Super League forwards on season-long loans with payments paid by us to their parent clubs are advanced.
With the addition of our Furness Raiders’ backup, we will have 25 players signed on for the season, leaving 29 players available for selection and our budget nearly fully utilised.

“We were able to persuade Jarrad Stack, our club captain, to extend his contract by one year. We’re
evidently happy since there haven’t been any declines in performance with age, and we are certain that we are getting a fully dedicated player.
However, we need to find an additional £6,000 to finish the agreement because of a budget shortage.

Brett Carter, an outside back, has signed a new one-year contract with Barrow, which will keep him at the Northern Competitions Stadium through the end of the 2025 campaign.
Carter began playing professionally with the Raiders in 2008 and will play in his 17th season next season. He has since made 75 appearances in all competitions throughout three stints.
He worked hard for Workington Town in between those, and then he went to Whitehaven to finish the county round.
Carter made ten appearances in the previous season and
was listed eight more times as the 18th man. He scored his lone try of the season in a close loss to Toulouse at home.
“I’m really happy to sign for another year at Barrow, in what will probably be my last season,” he stated of the new contract.
Knowing when to quit playing rugby is crucial because I’ve played it since I was six years old. I believe I still have something to contribute to the team, and I still like the sport’s roughness and intensity.
“I’m happy to play anywhere, and we can get really light on numbers during the season.”
