As Morecambe looks to extend Rhys Williams’ time with the team, Derek Adams thinks the Liverpool loanee is demonstrating the advantages of playing regularly.
The 23-year-old agreed to an initial move to Mazuma Mobile Stadium through January before joining the Shrimps in August.
Williams made his 19th appearance for the Shrimps this season across all competitions in Saturday’s 3-0 loss at Grimsby Town.
His total for Liverpool in the 2020–21 season is already tied for the second-highest amount of games he has played in a season.
After other moves away from Anfield didn’t work out, his most productive season was 23 games on loan at Kidderminster Harriers in the 2019–20 National League North season.
Temporary spells with Swansea City, Blackpool, Aberdeen and Port Vale brought a combined total of 25 matches, either as a result of injury or falling out of favour.
However, despite Morecambe’s position at the wrong end of League Two, the Preston-born central defender has impressed his manager.
