Sami Sauiluma, a former winger for the Canberra Raiders and Cronulla Sharks, has signed a new contract that will enable him to play rugby league going forward.
After signing a contract extension with the Burleigh Bears, the Woden Valley Rams junior, who last played in the NRL in 2015, will continue to compete in the QLD Cup for the 2025 season.
The team’s captain played in 15 games in 2024, averaging just over 110 running metres per game while scoring two tries, dishing out five try assists, and making 25 tackle busts and five line breaks.
Before bringing his skills to Burleigh, Sauiluma, the cousin of former NRL centre Tim Simona, played in the NRL for three seasons from 2013 to 2015, making 18 appearances and scoring five tries.
He has participated in more than 175 reserve-grade games during his career, was a member of the 2016 QLD Residents squad, and helped the team win the QLD Cup Grand Final in both 2016 and 2019.
In addition, the Burleigh Bears have announced the arrival of Tyrone Peachey (Penrith Panthers), Adam Christensen (South Sydney Rabbitohs), Tristan Powell (Melbourne Storm), and Lorenzo Mulitalo (Parramatta Eels).
