In the early hours of Saturday morning, a 25-year-old man lost his life in a traffic accident in the Shetland Isles.
The deadly crash happened early on January 11 while a Toyota Hilux pick-up truck was traveling on the A970 close to Sandwick.
The individual was declared deceased at the site when emergency personnel arrived at around one in the morning.
There are no local detours available, and the A970 is still closed south of the Hoswick Junction.
“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of the man who died, and investigations are at a very early stage to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident,” stated Road Policing Inspector Donnie MacKinnon.
“Any drivers who were on the A970 at the time of the collision, especially those with dash cam footage, are kindly asked to contact us with any information that may be relevant to our investigations.”
“Anyone with information can call 101 and reference incident number 0155 of Saturday, January 11, 2025 to reach Police Scotland.”
