One of rugby league’s most promising young players has been re-signed by St George Illawarra to the end of 2027.
After excelling at the underage level while playing for the Australian Schoolboys in Queensland, Loko Pasifiki Tonga joined the Dragons two years ago.
Since then, the adolescent prop has played for the NSW U19s and helped St George win their first SG Ball championship in over thirty years.
Pasifiki Tonga made the jump to reserve grade in late-2024 and is expected to push for a first grade debut this season under Shane Flanagan after inking a two-year extension.
“We’re really excited to have locked Loko down for two more years,” remarked the head coach.
“Despite his size and mobility, he excels at the little things. He is an extremely dedicated person who trains hard and has a positive outlook. For him, 2025 will be a significant year.
With a height of 196 cm and a weight of 121 kg, Pasifiki Tonga would rank among the largest players in the NRL if he made his Red V debut this season.
The front-rower will provide the Dragons forward pack much-needed punch since, despite his size, he has demonstrated incredible technique and fitness throughout his early years.
After the team re-signed Ryan Couchman and Toby in December, he received an extension.
