Taiwo Awoniyi sends clear transfer message Nottingham Forest Fans question mark

The Reds striker responds to rumours of a possible January window departure in the most recent Nottingham Forest transfer news.

Talk that striker Taiwo Awoniyi would depart Nottingham Forest before the January transfer window ends has been refuted.

This season, the Nigerian international has mostly been forced to play as a substitute and has only contributed one goal in 19 games. With just over a week until the deadline day on February 3, it has raised questions about his future at the City Ground.

According to reports, West Ham United is interested in Awoniyi, who has a contract that expires in 2027. However, the 27-year-old has stated that he wants to stay on Trentside in order to support Nuno Espirito Santo’s team as they attempt to qualify for European football.

“There will always be rumours and transfers are a part of football, but I’m only focused on Nottingham Forest,” he told SportsBoom.

“There is a lot of promise on this team, and I want to be a part of making it happen. Instead of considering quitting, I’m considering how I can help this club succeed even more.

“For me, it’s about being ready and taking risks when they present themselves. Whether it’s via helping out, scoring, or encouraging my teammates to do better, my personal objective is to contribute more. However, the team is more important than simply me.

“Forest’s success is my success, and I’m content as long as we keep going. It is simpler to strike a balance between team objectives and personal ambition when you sincerely believe in the wider vision.

Head coach Nuno admitted last week that Awoniyi required more playing time in order to reach the calibre of play he has demonstrated in the past. However, he maintained that the forward can still contribute significantly to the Reds through May.

Since missing a significant portion of the preseason, Awoniyi has been making up lost ground in terms of his fitness and agility. He has not had an easy campaign, but the coaching staff has always supported him.

“It has undoubtedly been difficult,” he remarked. “You want to be on the pitch and contribute in every game as a player. However, I’ve discovered that perseverance and diligence are essential.

Knowing that my chance will present itself and wanting to make the most of it is what drives me. I put a lot of effort into my training, keep my head down, and concentrate on being prepared for everything. Even if my position has been lower than I had intended, I am glad to be a part of the team and am motivated by its success.

“The coaches have been really encouraging when I’ve spoken with them. Despite the fact that I don’t start frequently, they still view me as a valuable member of the team.

“It’s the team spirit. Everyone in this squad has bought into the vision and that’s what sets us apart,” Awoniyi explained. “We play for each other and for the fans.” “The atmosphere in the stadium and in the dressing room is electric. Our success comes from knowing we are in this together; every tackle, every pass, every goal counts.” Forest, who are currently third in the Premier League standings, travel to Bournemouth on Saturday (3pm kickoff). They’re hoping to make it ten games undefeated in all competitions.
