This morning, Blackburn Rovers posted on their official club website that they had successfully signed Lucy Johnson, a former England youth international wing-back, on a free transfer.
Prior to moving to America, Johnson played for the Arizona State Sun Devils, represented Lincoln City as a young player, and then joined the Leicester City Regional Talent Centre (RTC). The 23-year-old joined the Lancashire club after a period of juggling football and her studies in the United States. A professional player, Johnson made 17 senior appearances for the team in league competition, scoring two goals.
Johnson has played for England on the international scene, all the way up to the Under-19 level.
“I’m very happy to be here, it’s a huge Club in the North-West with really good ambitions, so I’m grateful to be here and thankful for the move,” Johnson said after signing a contract at Ewood Park.
“I’m thrilled to sign since Simon [Parker] called me last week and expressed interest in bringing me here. He spoke with me about the football style and the Club’s goals, and I felt it was a perfect fit.

They will also get up and down the flank and put some deliveries and balls into the box for the attackers to finish.
