Stoke City boss statement over untouchable talented young winger

After leaving West Ham United, Favour Fawunmi made his Stoke City senior debut right away.
After giving the teenager an instant senior debut for Stoke City, Mark Robins appreciates Favour Fawunmi’s fearless mentality.

Stoke’s academy scouts had been keeping an eye on Fawumni during the summer, but he stayed with West Ham until the end of January, when they were able to jump on him and get him up to Clayton Wood for a trial match in front of Jon Walters and Robins.

After receiving a deal offer almost immediately, the 18-year-old winger signed on Friday and made his first team debut on Saturday, coming off the bench in an FA Cup fourth-round match against Cardiff that ended in a loss on penalties.

“A young player can come in and show no fear and have a real go, and he certainly did that,” Robins added. He demonstrated that he has good talents, a wonderful touch, and incredibly nice feet. Although he is only eighteen and is still learning the game, he has a promising future.

“He signed on Friday morning after we saw him in the game on Tuesday, so we were able to get him registered and ready to play, which was fantastic because we needed something like that to give us that spark and try to take the game to an opponent instead of letting them dictate to us.”

“The team has a lot of work ahead of them. As I’ve mentioned, training has increased in the past few weeks, and we’re hoping that players who have been away for a while will return fast to give us the push we need. However, we also need to work with them to bring them to the levels they require.
