Hull KR man Danny Richardson agreed to join Huddersfield Giants

Richardson won’t be involved this weekend, but he is expected to start for the Giants alongside Lolohea in Huddersfield’s Super League opener against Warrington Wolves at the John Smith’s Stadium.

“I’ve had a good pre-season with Hull KR and I’m really ready to go now,” Richardson told Huddersfield Giants’ club media. “We all aim to be ready for round one and unfortunately some people miss out. Luckily enough for me I’ve been given the opportunity come here and rip in.

“I can get game time for myself and hopefully help you guys out and however long I’m here, I’m going to give my best.

“It’s another good set of lads welcoming me with open arms. I know a couple of the boys and I was buzzing to see Swifty [Adam Swift] as well, I’ve not played with him since my Saints days so it’s rolling back the years playing with him.

“I’ve not had a pre-season with [Huddersfield] so it probably won’t be as perfect as it would be but I’ll be giving 100 per cent and trying to win.”

Speaking about the deal, Robinson revealed there was scope to extend the half-back’s time with the club beyond the initial two week period.

“It’s been no secret we’ve picked up a few knocks and injuries, to pick Danny up is a real asset for us as he’s going into the peak years of his career,” the head coach said.

“Danny also has a wicked goal kick, while Cluney is out there is a void missing and hopefully he can fill that void, he could also potentially stay around the group when Adam is back to fitness.

“It’s a great opportunity for Danny, he wants to play and put his best foot forward he’s a quality player and he’ll add to us some direction on the field and allow other players to play their game”.
