Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has said he is ‘very sad’ that Di’Shon Bernard will be out with a long-term injury.
Sheffield Wednesday‘s defender sustained the blow against West Brom last weekend. He will now miss the rest of SWFC’s season.
Bernard, 24, has been a key player for the Owls this season in the Championship. He has made 31 appearances in all competitions, 27 of which have come in the league, and he has chipped in with three goals.
Rohl has said, as per the official club website: “It’s a hard one, Dish is out of the season now, a big injury, it looks like six months so a big one. Tomorrow he will have a surgery. It’s very hard and also very sad but I think I said this straight after the game, I did not have a good feeling.
“We have to step up with all the other players around us, it is not an easy situation, but we will stick together and help him through this.
“I cross my fingers for a good surgery tomorrow and then a good recovery. It’s not easy to take but we will help him come back stronger.”
Sheffield Wednesday injury blow regarding Di’Shon Bernard
Bernard is an important member of Sheffield Wednesday’s defence and his influence will be missed.
Bernard moved to Hillsborough in 2023 following Sheffield Wednesday’s promotion from League One and he helped them stay up last term.
The Jamaica international, who has 19 caps under his belt, started his career at Chelsea before linking up with fellow Premier League side Manchester United.
He then represented the Red Devils at various different youth levels before playing once for their first-team.
Bernard was loaned out away from Old Trafford at Salford City, Hull City and Portsmouth to get some experience under his belt.
He then left United permanently before he was snapped up by Sheffield Wednesday and he hasn’t looked back since.
What now for Sheffield Wednesday?
The Owls won 1-0 away at Swansea City on Wednesday night as they bounced back from their defeat to West Brom in style.
Michael Smith scored their winner in Wales and they are now sat in 8th place in the table, two points off the play-offs as they prepare to play Coventry City at home.
