Crystal Palace are among several clubs eyeing a summer move for Birmingham City winger Zaid Betteka, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The 18-year-old has not yet signed a professional contract at St Andrew’s, and the Eagles, Rangers, and Norwich City are apparently keeping an eye on him, alerting potential suitors.
After making his first-team debut for Birmingham in the FA Cup third-round victory over Lincoln City last month, Betteka is reportedly well-liked by the players.
Known as a “pure class” forward, the teenager has been a mainstay for the Blues’ Under-21 team and has been selected four times this season for the first team matchday squad.
Romain Esse, a winger for Millwall, joined Crystal Palace in January, continuing their recent trend of acquiring elite EFL players.
The 19-year-old Lions academy graduate signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Palace last month, and in a 2-1 home loss to Brentford, he scored his first Premier League goal.
The England U20 international, who followed in the footsteps of Championship newcomers like Michael Olise and Adam Wharton, was reportedly signed by Palace after beating late competition from Bournemouth.
Both players, who joined Palace in 2021 and 2024, respectively, have been inexpensive additions, but with Olise leaving for Bayern, it may now be difficult for the Selhurst Park team to hold onto Wharton.
Wharton is allegedly a summer target for Manchester United, who are searching for midfield reinforcements for Ruben Amorim, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.
