Matthew Stafford agreed deal with Steelers trading

According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Pittsburgh Steelers are among the teams interested in making a trade for quarterback Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams. Other teams have asked about his availability besides the Steelers, including the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, and Las Vegas Raiders.

“The teams that you would think would be interested in participating have actually done so. Among those that have expressed interest are the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Las Vegas Raiders, according to Breer.

Stafford is a first-round pick, according to a report from Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports last week. If he is traded, the quarterback wants a $50 million salary in the new position he would play in the following season.

That is roughly what Aaron Rodgers wanted when he left Green Bay, and if the Steelers want to make the most of their Super Bowl window, this may be their big shot. However, Stafford will require a new contract and has begun to show indications of deterioration.

Furthermore, Stafford has a history of injuries, and Pittsburgh would hardly allay those worries given the Steelers’ youthful but developing offensive line.
