Yosuke Ideguchi, a midfielder for Celtics, has stated that he wants to get better at shooting in order to intimidate players on the other team.
The 27-year-old, who is currently on loan, was speaking after making history at Avispa Fukuoka when he opened up about a regrettably absent aspect of his game.
“I think the opponents will be scared of you if you become a player who can score like that,” Ideguchi told Soccer Digest. It seems to be a problem.
“As I mentioned before, I think I’m still lacking precision in the final finish, so I’d like to improve that. I think I’m getting along well with everyone in defence and attack to some extent.”
Ideguchi has made 26 appearances for the J League club, although he has not yet broken through for the mid-table group.
In actuality, in 237 appearances during his whole career, the 15-cap Japan international has only scored 18 goals.
His amazing goal-per-minute ratio is one every 974 minutes. Undoubtedly inadequate for a midfield player in any role.
Strangely enough, Ideguchi has only scored once in 15 J League Cup appearances for Japan, and that occurred in August 2021 during a 2-0 victory over Matsumoto Yamaga.
I don’t think it will be enough to save a Celtic career that seems to be finished before it even got off the ground, even if he does improve his scoring record.
Ideguchi had to wait to start his career because of an injury he got during his starting debut against Alloa, but he had little chance of making the starting eleven after he recovered because of Matt O’Riley, Callum McGregor, and Reo Hatate.
It pleases me to see him succeeding at his loan club. It’s obvious he’s having fun there. Fukuoka should attempt to extend the loan so that Ideguchi can resume his rising career, which was already flourishing before joining Celtic.
