Update; Giants Daniel Jones neck injury Amid Replacement….

According to Tom Pelissero, the New York Giants have worked out free agent quarterbacks Matt Barkley and Ian Book while Daniel Jones’ status for Week 7 is still uncertain due to a neck injury. While teams occasionally work out free agents to update their rankings out of a sense of caution, it is interesting that the Giants have chosen to work out quarterbacks.

The New York Giants don’t appear to be in the market for a new starter, as Taylor performed admirably against a formidable defense and put his team in position to win the game many times. The Giants are now 1-5 and rapidly slipping behind the Bills in the NFC East, which could have easily resulted to a different outcome in the contentious Giants-Bills game finale where no pass interference was ruled.

Free Agent Workout by the Giants QBs Book and Barkley

In his final NFL game for the Buffalo Bills in 2020, Matt Barkley completed 11 of 21 passes for 197 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception.

With the New Orleans Saints, Ian Book last played in an NFL game in 2021, completing 12 of his 20 attempts for 135 yards and two interceptions. Book has only ever started and played in one game.

Daniel Jones has a neck issue, so this week as we approach his Week 7 home game against the NFC East opponent Washington Commanders, we’ll be monitoring his progress in practice and his recuperation.
