West Ham United on trail.

West Ham has reportedly seen Valencia’s highly sought-after center midfielder Javi Guerra in person and is expressing interest in him, according to 90min.

He played 45 minutes during last month’s Spain under-21 match against Scotland, which the Hammers watched live on their website, according to a story published by the source on October 21.

Following a string of “superb” performances that saw him witness the same international match in September, Guerra has already scored three goals and provided an assist in La Liga this season.

Both Barcelona and Manchester United have previously been cnnected to the young player. Valencia has stated that although the player is not expected to be sold, he is “heavily linked” to a transfer elsewhere. The young player apparently has a €100 million [£86 million] release clause.

Future super star?

After a strong conclusion to the summer transfer window, West Ham does appear to be actively searching for ways to bolster the team going forward.

Given that David Moyes’ team has had a solid start to the campaign, if deals become available in January, it appears to be the perfect chance to bolster from a position of strength.

However, it is evident that there is fierce rivalry for Guerra, and if Valencia isn’t ready to play ball right now, it would be a costly proposition come wintertime.

Although Moyes isn’t known for giving young players significant responsibilities, that might not matter if the 20-year-old keeps up his present performance in Spain.

Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse have already been added to the central midfield to cover for Declan Rice, while Tomas Soucek’s comeback to form has come at the perfect time.

However, with few people supporting them save the untested Conor Coventry and the underdog Flynn Downes, Tim Steidten might become heavily involved in this pursuit.

In other West Ham news, an offensive talent can receive a massive pay increase from the Irons after turning down a deal from his current team.
