Sheffield Wednesday assistant manager Henrik Pedersen has said that he is ‘excited’ by the potential that the club have.
Pedersen was appointed as assistant manager to new manager Danny Rohl last week ahead of the game against Watford, which Wednesday lost 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The 45-year-old was most recently manager of Vendsyssel FF in his home nation of Denmark, and his relationship with Rohl, who was appointed manager over the international break, goes back over a decade from when they were together at RB Leipzig.
Pedersen on what excites him about Wednesday
Pedersen said that he is, like Rohl, a ‘tactical freak’, and that he is hoping to get to know the players very well.
“I’m a tactical freak like him,” Pedersen told the club’s YouTube channel. “But tactical things are just one thing, they don’t work if the human behind the player doesn’t work. So for me it’s very important how we’re working with the human behind the player – that combination of working with the personalities and football, and having a clear strategy of how we want to play, train and develop the culture…
“I’ve had so many messages, and one thing that’s clear is that there is big, big respect for this club, this culture, and this potential. I’m very excited, and very proud that I’m here to support everyone in this development.”
Pedersen looks to be a good appointment
Pedersen looks so far to be a great addition to the back room team at Sheffield Wednesday.
He joins former England coach Chris Powell and performance manager Sascha Lense as part of Rohl’s back room staff.
It is good to hear that Pedersen and Rohl seem to work on the same wavelengths, so hopefully they will be a good partnership to have at Hillsborough.
