Rangers have paid an emotional tribute to club legend following her passing away.

After Mary ‘Tiny’ Gallacher passed away, Rangers paid a moving homage to the club icon and unsung Ibrox hero.

The former Ibrox employee spent more than 50 years serving the Rangers in a variety of capacities with a renowned level of dignity and distinction.

Mary Gallacher, a friend to several Rangers players who have achieved fame, began working in the club’s food service in 1967 and left in 2019.

The Rangers first team honoured a legend whose influence on the backdrop of Rangers over the highs and lows of her five decades cannot be overstated by giving her a Guard of Honour on the day she retired—a 3-0 victory against Hearts at Ibrox under Steven Gerrard.

Rangers CEO James Bisgrove expressed his heartfelt sadness at Tiny’s demise on behalf of the whole Rangers football team.

She spent more than 50 years in a number of jobs at Rangers, a team she devoted her life to.

“Tiny was a beloved member of the Rangers family and a dependable friend and coworker to many Rangers legends.

“At this sad and trying time, our thoughts are with her family.”

Rangers honour Mary Gallacher with a tribute
In a heartfelt homage, Rangers have listed all of Mary Gallacher’s accomplishments when she was a background player at Ibrox.

The Ibrox club’s history and its people are part of what makes the Gers so special, and Tiny’s story is one that the club will never forget.

Remarkably, when Mary Gallacher started working for the club in the 1960s, she did so by following in the footsteps of her grandmother Maggie Lindsay and mother Lizzie Love.

Rangers’ familial links continue to this day, as “her dad Willie and Uncle Davy also worked in hospitality at the stadium, and sister Irene worked beside her in the catering department.”

Her family still employs a number of people as Rangers.

Mary Gallacher’s dedication to Rangers was so great that in 2001 she was invited to Monte Carlo to accept a special UEFA award in recognition of her devotion.

Her anecdotes of some of the club’s finest players are legendary, and throughout the years, her tours at Ibrox Stadium have been accompanied by them. She was awarded the John Greig Achievement Award by the Rangers in 2014.

The whole staff of Rangers News sends their sincere sympathies to Mary Gallacher’s family during this trying time.
