Millwall duo made a surprise visit to St Paul’s Sports Ground

Millwall duo Shaun Hutchinson and Matija Sarkic made a surprise visit to St Paul’s Sports Ground in Rotherhithe, where the Millwall Community Trust Post-16 Football and Education Programme was in full swing.

This project, which offers a special two-year Football & Education Scholarship, is a haven for young football fans between the ages of 16 and 18. It accepts players of both genders who are keen to advance their football abilities while pursuing an A Level or BTEC in their chosen sport.

The core of this effort is to offer students a full football development course in addition to their academic studies. It provides a forum for players to get recognised qualifications while honing both their tactical and technical mastery of the beautiful game.

Students were thrilled to have Sarkic and Hutchinson, two gifted individuals, visit the course. With the goal of inspiring our young pupils, they participated in a dynamic Q&A session and kindly shared stories and insights from their storied careers.

After the thought-provoking Q&A, the program’s athletes proceeded to the field to demonstrate their abilities in competitive battles. Like coaches on the sidelines, Sarkic and Hutchinson gave them the kind of support and inspiration that only seasoned pros can give.

Towards the end of the day, guests got the opportunity to ask Sarkic and Hutchinson specific questions. Both of them answered with insight and insightful counsel, making a lasting impression on everyone who sought their counsel.

Excitement was in full swing for Millwall Community Trust’s Football and Sports Development Manager, Tim Sells, who said, “What an incredible experience for everyone involved in the Post-16 programme today.”

“We are really grateful to Matija Sarkic and Shaun Hutchinson for coming, as they both greatly influenced the football players of the future. This visit was more than just a fleeting event; it served as a potent reminder of the importance of football as a catalyst for good in the community and provided insight into what it takes to succeed at the highest levels.”
