Preview: Potential Lineups, Prediction, Tactics, Team News, and Key Stats for Barcelona vs. Sevilla

Barcelona will be eager to pick up a victory when they welcome Sevilla in a league matchup after dropping points the last time they played.

Barcelona, the defending champion, has had a respectable start to the 2023–24 campaign. They are unbeaten thus far, and they will try to maintain that when they play Sevilla, who have dropped three of their six league games so far.

The Catalan giants started off the new season with a disappointing draw. But, after that, they managed to win five games in a row in the league and overtook Real Madrid to claim the top spot. However, all has changed because of the draw they played out in their last outing.

Xavi’s men couldn’t defeat Mallorca and ended up playing a 2-2 draw with them. As a result, they have now slipped to third place on the points table behind Girona and Real Madrid. Barcelona will be eager to return to winning ways when they host Sevilla but it won’t be an easy task.

The visitors’ season hasn’t gotten off to the best of starts. They started the season off with three losses, but since then, they’ve managed to turn things around with two victories and a draw in their last three games. Their recent performance appears respectable, and they ought to be able to compete with the Catalan powerhouses.

Sevilla is coming off a 5-1 victory over Almeria going into this match. The visitors were proficient in the final third despite not having the majority of the ball. They generated more opportunities, and five of those conversions were successful.

They will look for a similar performance against Xavi’s men but it won’t be an easy task as Barcelona will go all out for all three points. Meanwhile, The Hard Tackle takes a closer look at this fixture and tries to predict the tactics they could deploy.

Pedri and Frenkie de Jong won’t be available for the home team. Last time out, Xavi made a few alterations to his starting lineup, and it is thought that he will reinstate players like Jules Kounde and Robert Lewandowski.
