Report: Leeds has agree deal with £16m Nottingham Forest defender.

Despite being a fixture for Steve Cooper’s team in 2022–2023—the Telegraph claims Nottingham Forest defender Neco Williams was targeted by Leeds United in the summer and may leave on loan.

Williams, 22, left Liverpool for Forest in the summer of 2022 for a £16 million transfer. In his debut season at Forest, he played 36 games and was essentially Steve Cooper’s first choice. But he’s had trouble this term.

The Wales player, who plays for the same national squad as Joe Rodon, Dan James, and Ethan Ampadu, has only made one appearance in the Premier League this year. First option Serge Aurier has even occasionally captained Forest.

In search of a right-back throughout the summer, Leeds ultimately signed Djed Spence on loan from Tottenham and Sam Byram on a free transfer. Naturally, since signing, Spence has only made one substitute appearance owing to an injury.

Williams was reportedly a summer target for Leeds, according to a Friday story in The Telegraph. Due to his current lack of playing time, he could think about leaving on loan in January. If Leeds is still interested, that will be fascinating.

Leeds was interested in Nottingham Forest defender Neco Williams.
Williams would have been outstanding if Leeds hadn’t acquired Spence in the summer. Williams, who can play on either wing, may have covered some of our full-back problems from both sides.

Byram is using his weaker side, the left, to play. On the right wing, Luke Ayling, Jamie Shackleton, and Archie Grey have all been utilised; however, none of them have left a marking. When he gets fit, Spence probably will.

However, Williams would have been outstanding if Spence hadn’t joined, in part because he would have paired up with three of his Wales colleagues. Leeds is unlikely to reconsider a move considering our full-back options.
