West Ham beating liverpool bid to sign Napoli midfielder in January transfer

West Ham United and Liverpool are supposedly “in the queue” to sign a midfield player from Napoli who is about to enter the last six months of his contract with the Serie A team.

The Premier League team and Juventus, the legendary Italian team, are expected to battle it out for the highly sought-after Poland international Piotr Zielinski, who could be available for free in the summer of 2020.

Corriere dello Sport, which has been reporting on the various options available to the 29-year-old, claims that.

Juve is interested because they need to find players to replace Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli, who have been suspended due to, respectively, failed drug tests and betting offenses.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Turin team is currently considering a number of options, including the seasoned and talented Zielinski.

The player has not yet agreed to extend his contract with the current Serie A champions, and it expires in the summer. This implies that, should he so choose, he is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of Italy starting on January 1.

Because of Zielinski’s circumstances, Napoli might be willing to let him go in January for a low cost; however, the report makes no indication of what that amount might be. On Transfermarkt, his current value is €35 million (£30 million).

The report also mentions Inter Milan, Liverpool, and West Ham as strong contenders for the midfielder’s signature, even though Juve is believed to be the front-runner.

In fact, the Reds have been connected to a move for Zielinski for a while, so this most recent rumor is hardly shocking.

Regarding West Ham’s interest, David Moyes is still working to reorganize his midfield following Declan Rice’s departure in the summer.

Although James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez have joined the team, the Hammers manager is still looking to bolster his roster with another talented player.

It now just remains to be seen what path Napoli and in particular Zielinski choose to take over the next couple of months.
