Mark Benstead provides injury update live on Sky Sports ahead of Rangers v Sparta Prague

A squad news update from Mark Benstead has been released for the Rangers ahead of their Europa League match against Sparta Prague on Thursday, November 9.

Under Philippe Clement, the Gers have won five straight games going into this one. Most recently, they defeated Hearts 3-1 in the Viaplay Cup semifinals.

However, there was a little price to pay for that win: goal scorer Scott Wright may miss the Sparta match at Ibrox due to an injury.

“There’s no John Souttar or Nico Raskin for Rangers,” stated Benstead during a live interview on Sky Sports News on November 8, 2014, at 14:41.

“Scott Wright is also a major doubt due to a muscular injury sustained during Sunday’s League Cup semi-final.

Kemar Roofe is one individual who is returning, but according to Clement, he will just play for five or ten minutes at most while he continues to improve his fitness.

If Wright had been well, he could have started the game, but in light of this development, it appears like Clement’s hand will be somewhat pushed.

Despite his lacklustre performance against Hearts, Todd Cantwell could be selected for this important matchup on the right.

Not only is Raskin and Souttar missing, but it’s also important to note that Rabbi Matondo, Tom Lawrence, and Steven Davis are not there.

Borna Barisic is available, but Clement needs to thank Michael Beale for excluding Ridvan Yilmaz off the Gers’ European roster.

Although certain players’ exclusion is not ideal, Clement still has a lot of other choices, so it’s not the end of the world.

This team can easily defeat Sparta and make sure the Gers stay on track to make it to the knockout rounds once more.

Regarding other Rangers news, Leon Balogun has disclosed his plans for the Ibrox.
