Sarai Rachel James, 27, has been charged with aggravated child abuse for allegedly running over her child with a car
According to the Boaz Police Department, an Alabama mother has been charged with child abuse after she unintentionally ran over her 7-year-old son while forcing him to walk home from school.
According to the police, the incident occurred on February 9 at approximately 3:30 p.m. when Sarai Rachel James, 27, picked up her kid from Boaz, Alabama, school.
James was informed by the police that her kid had been sent to the principal’s office due to an incident earlier in the day.
James pulled over her son near the school and forced him to walk or run the remaining eight blocks home as a form of discipline, according to the police.
James followed her kid as he walked for a few streets, but when she decelerated, the youngster attempted to grab the car’s door handle, according to the Miami Herald.
Michael Abercrombie, the chief of police in Boaz, stated that her son was run over by a rear tyre when James accelerated.
Though Abercrombie said the youngster would not have ended himself in that circumstance if he hadn’t been disciplined, investigators told the Miami Herald that they thought the incident was an accident.
