Aston Villa are preparing for their return to Premier League action this weekend with an away trip to Fulham.
as team travels to Craven Cottage looking to return to winning ways. The 2-1 defeat to Manchester United last week, combined with Tottenham Hotspur’s last-minute winner against Brighton, saw Villa drop out of the top four places.
As of right now, Villa has dropped its last two games against Chelsea and Manchester United, the latter of which was an FA Cup fourth-round replay. Only one Premier League game has been won by Villa since the year’s beginning. Emery will be hoping that statistic rises against Fulham on Saturday.
With multiple important players out, Emery will have to try to get the three points. Boubacar Kamara, who will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury, is the most recent player to be added to the treatment room.
Additionally ruled out due to their separate knee problems are Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendia. The two haven’t played for Villa since the summer of last year, but they are getting close to finishing their recuperation. However, Emery has said he doesn’t think one of them will be back in time to play this season.
“I believe they [Buendia and Mings] will be out for the entire season, but maybe they can train at the end,” Emery said to reporters on Friday. “Then starting next season being fine to come back like before.”
Diego Carlos and Ezri Konsa, two of the center backs, are also out due to injuries. Carlos injured his hamstring this week during training, and it’s anticipated that he won’t be able to play for up to a month.
Konsa is anticipated to remain sidelined till the next month due to a knee ailment that he sustained earlier this month. In addition, striker Jhon Duran is sidelined to miss the match against Fulham due to a hamstring injury.
