Aston Villa player defines Unai Emery in one word

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez never seems busy enough to deny an interview, and this week he had another conversation with the Argentine media.

The 31-year-old was interviewed by DAZN’s FeverPitchLive, and even though there were again many questions about the World Cup, this time he had something interesting to say about his time in the Premier League as well.

Under Unai Emery, Aston Villa has had a fantastic season. Martinez was questioned about their remarkable form and the new playing style they had to get used to.

The goalie acknowledged that he needed more physical training because he wasn’t used to moving around the field the way he has been lately.

“I told Unai Emery that I should work on my sprinting a little more,” he laughed. Martinez told DAZN, “Because I’m sprinting more forwards and backwards than I have in my entire life.”
“Since I was at Aston Villa, we have played in a low block; we did so in Argentina as well. However, the truth is that I feel at ease and a part of the defence. You may take a lot of chances at times, but the person who doesn’t take chances loses.

When asked to sum up Unai Emery in one word, Martinez chose the manager’s best quality.

He seems really intense, in my opinion. During training, meetings, the entire match day, and during his speeches, he is intense. He prevents you from unwinding.

After losing to Manchester United 3-2 at Old Trafford on Boxing Day, Aston Villa is now getting ready for their final game of the year against Burnley on Saturday afternoon. They might get another opportunity to get near the top of the table, depending on how the fixture works out.
