Emery can unearth an ideal Mings heir in Villa’s teen sensation’

With a 5-0 victory over Sheffield United over the weekend, Aston Villa got back on track and is still in the running for a top four Premier League finish.

During the transfer window, Unai Emery added a few players, but he did not sign a center-back. Tyrone Mings and Pau Torres are already injured, so if any more of his players get hurt, he might be overburdened in this position.

Due to a major knee injury sustained in the season’s first game, Mings is currently out for the whole campaign. Given that Mings turns 31 next month, Emery may have to consider life without him.

News of Tyrone Mings’ injury
The Englishman’s current injury will be difficult to recover from. During the early part of his career at Bournemouth, he had already missed 103 games due to back injuries and cruciate ligament tears.

He might need some time to catch up, and by then, he might be a little lower on Emery’s priority list.

There are only two years left on the Englishman’s present deal, so it’s time the former Arsenal manager began searching for possible Mings replacements.

However, Emery might look closer to home, as teenage defender Kerr Smith is thriving and could be the perfect long-term successor for the 30-year-old, rather than jumping into the transfer market.
